What is the Left doing to maintain failure in Chariho schools? A Forgotten Taxpayers update
Since day one, your conservative team on the school committee has been under a constant rhetorical assault. This has even included frivolous Open Meeting Act complaints to the Rhode Island Attorney General’s office. As we knew, these complaints were purely political and without merit.
The Attorney General’s office has now DISMISSED all of the complaints. So, this fabricated narrative has now evaporated. As we knew all along, our conservative team has been focused making Chariho the best school district that it can be.
During the February 25th budget workshop, the school committee voted 9 to 1 to close Hope Valley Elementary School. While this was a difficult choice, decisions by the Superintendent over the last few years have made this decision inevitable. The School Committee wisely ripped off the bandage. While this will be a large reoccurring annual savings, there is still more budget adjustments that need to be made.
Two actions I would urge you to consider. First, join me in signing the petition “Protect Girls’ Sports” to keep biological boys from playing in girls sports – you can see the petition here.
Second, consider attending the Chariho budget hearing on Tuesday, March 4 in the Middle School Auditorium. The meeting starts at 7:30pm. Our friends on the school committee need to see some friendly faces in the crowd. Even if you need to leave early, stop by. I’ll be there, say hi!
As I mentioned in my last update, the League of Cities and Towns is pushing another assault on taxpayers and families. I appeared on “In The Dugout” with Mike Stenhouse and Larry Fitzmorris to discuss the implications of this BAD policy. Most dangerous is the attempt to repeal the 4% property tax cap which would accelerate spending by towns with leftist majority town councils. See the show here.
NOTE: one of the board members of the League is Karen Pinch, the Town Manager for Richmond. With advocates like these, we are not going to be able to afford our own houses soon!
Best,
